You oughta be in pictures for…

… great dominant art!!! Amanda’s shot of the students looking onto the fire scene gets appropriately close to the action, so that we see the expressions on the students’ faces. The red glow of the fire engine lights adds an element of drama. It’s a compelling shot that is presented at optimum size! Excellent job!

… a comprehensive fire story by Lana! She does a great job covering the details of the fire, as well as getting color from the students looking on the scene. Very solid reporting!

… a great numbers story by Nick! Voter turnout can be a dull affair, but Nick’s story captures the news value of unusually high turnout numbers in Vigo County, as well as nationally. As usual, Nick’s use of AP info adds good context to local numbers. Well done!

… nice approach to the United Way Cornhole Tournament! The long cutlines and photos by Amanda was a great way to cover this story.

… continued solid performances by our newbies, Cinnamon and Nicky! (Sounds like a cool cover band! LOL) These ladies have been consistently reliable and have produced well-reported copy. So glad you’re with us!!!

… a nice lede by Heidi on page 6!

… compelling coverage of women’s soccer by Chris Hauger!

… lengthy event stories.  We’re still devoting a lot of space to “events” that primarily quote people talking about what a great event it is. Instead, I think we could use our space to run more innovative and interesting photos, tell some quirky stories about things that happen at events, or covering the issue behind the event.

lightbulb-2 What if…

… (see above about event stories.)
