Federal shield law talks

The idea is that if a source’s identity can be protected, people will not be so afraid to be whistle-blowers about injustice and unsafe practices in government and the workplace.

A shield law is also being talked about at the federal level. This story from the AP explains where the government and press representatives are in their negotiations about a federal shield law.
